Samarra vs Самара

В Ираке есть город Samarra, а в России есть Самара
Интересно есть ли какая-то лингвистическая связь между ними. Явно какой-то общий корень у них должен быть, т.к. не такое это уж популярное слово (особенно в русском языке)
